For solitude it is great. The spa is wonderful but for activities, there's absolutely nothing to do. It's an hour drive to everything. The property always provided transportation when requested. The tour operator on site will customize anything you want. The low tide is so far out, you can't swim in the ocean. It's a nice property with one restaurant but I wanted activities and the ability to swim in the ocean. The staff was wonderful!!

The cottage rooms are exceptionally good value for Zanzibar - they are spacious, right on the beach and incredibly private. The food is good and the beach is quiet without beach boys which is a huge plus.

This resort seems as if it’s brand new; every detail has been considered. The staff is stellar, going out of their way to make you feel welcome. The included breakfast is delicious and you are Literally steps from the beach.
I had a partial ocean view room and was upgraded for my last two nights- both rooms were great but the ocean view, which was visible from the bed, was great.
It’s a fantastic getaway location.

Pongwe is an isolated beach, at low tide the sea is very far away and, even at high tide, it is very shallow - you cannot swim. Kiwengwa beach, next door (10 minutes by car) is much better, more lively, with many shops and good hotels.

There is not much to do in the local area other than visit other hotel resorts. We did visit a local school to make a donation and I would advise bringing something with you to donate e.g notebooks, sweets, money

Small remote holiday village with the white sand beach but not having good beach maintenance (seaweed, some dirt on the beach). Little bit far from anything in Zanzibar (far from Stone city and airport, far from spectacular Nungwi and Paje beach). No bars, restaurants, shops and infrastructure outside the holiday resort due to remote location and low density of tourists.

At first sight you can say....what to do here ?....no shops, just some local fruits selling points, no crowded areas, less traffic than anywhere but more nature than anywhere around. It's exactly the opposite comparing with Paje. If you need a quiet, family friendly, uncrowded spot.....ask for Pongwe. And if you want to understand why I'm saying these....just go on Pongwe beach when low tide is there.

I did not visit Pongwe town.
I did not visit Pongwe town. I stayed in a luxury boutique hotel north of the town as I like a quiet holiday. The only problem was the tide leaving an unattractive expanse of muddy rocks. The hotel's pontoon helped with access to the sea when the tide was high.

The accommodation and restaurant in Weavers Lodge was outstanding and the beach was idyllic. The tide tends to be out until about 3pm (July/Aug stay) and there are some sharp rocks - if your feet are particularly fragile, water shoes are a good idea. We cycled to the next village - an enjoyable afternoon trip. Very friendly locals.
Set in a beautiful location right on the beach. A lovely relaxing place to stay.
We were lucky enough to have a room with its own private swimming pool and would thoroughly recommend one of these rooms as it a lovely shaded semi private place to relax.
The meals are lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. A range of trips can be organised by the hotel.
The beach is a wonderful place to walk and swim. The tide goes out a long way to provide fantastic walks on the sand and pools.
It is about an hour from Stone town by taxi.
Breakfast is simple but very delicious. It is all fresh and home made just like dinner - delicious. There is daily menu with quite a variety of food to choose - it was all very tasty.
The beach is right in front of the hotel - however, there is a high and low tide which does not allow you to swim all throughout the day. Nonetheless it doesn’t stop one from enjoying and loving the place.
Staff was very polite and nice.
The property was extremely clean.
Sea lodge - romantic, cosy, comfortable - absolutely beautiful!

It’s a fantastic getaway location.
Excellent location for quiet vacations. The tide change the view all the time. The villas are spacious, well equipped and modern designed.
The sea view villas gives you the privacy that you want.
The food was excellent , the chef overcome our expectations.
Service was really good. The free massage in spa was very nice and the girls really polite.
We didn't want to go out of the hotel area because it was perfect.
Room and staff were exceptional, we got an upgrade to the best room, which was amazing! We asked for late check out but since the hotel was fully booked, couldn't accommodate with that request, gave us another solution though and were extremely helpful. Everything was clean and food was nice!
The property has a delicious restaurant, nice staff, unique infrastructure, clean surroundings, easy access to the ocean/beach. Very quiet, calm. We were met by a young manager in charge, he was very nice and helpful at all times.
The staff is very nice. There is a nice restaurant built further from the shore, with a nice deck, which makes it possible to go in the water at high tide (the beach shore is not good for swimming). They even provide reef shoes.
Our stay couldn’t get any smoother, hotel is cozy and clean, there is no crowd and no stress! Great place to relax, authentic pool, friendly staff, Frank showed us around and was very professional and always in a good mood -)
We stayed at the hotel for a week. Very beautiful little hotel. Newly renovated. Spotless clean. Nice and quiet. Staff very attentative and kind. Delicious breakfast. Great cocktails. We got free upgrade the two last days.
1) food - high quality menus with local ingredients from Chef Mgeni
2) exceptionally well groomed garden
3) sunrise view from the porch
4) massage team
5) friendly staff
6) next door beach
7) transfer on island included
My wife and I love water entertainment and being there off-season (we were just two couples!) allowed us to enjoy it to the fullest, as we like it, with the full and very discreet support of the hotel staff.
Everything was amazing. We enjoyed our time with the warm welcome from the staff including the hotel general manager..
The surprises prepared by the hotel regarding our anniversary was appreciated..
The beachfront location is nice. Feels very secluded, which was a welcome respite. Most of the staff were welcoming and the food / entertainment was enjoyable. We also really enjoyed the massage!
Very friendly staff and good food. Pool was a good alternative considering the sea was rocky and affected by low/high tide. Resort was clean and well shaded area with palm trees and beach baby.
Small place without the extreme luxury feeling of other hotels. Much more personal than other places. Excellent breakfast and good meals otherwise at a reasonable price. Very quiet.
It was really nice

Wonderful breakfast, amazing quality of the food stunning beach, great views, super quiet place perfect to enjoy holidays with the family or a honeymoon.
